The answer is Ford. Which leads to another question.

What was unique about his presidency?

When was the last time the Republicans won the White House without a Nixon or a  Bush on the ticket?

The answer is Ford.

I don't think that's correct. Ford ran with Nixon, and he didn't "win" the Presidency. He became Vice President after Nixon's resignition.

The answer has to be before Kennedy. Eisenhower?

Ford didn't run with Nixon. He became the VP after Nixon's first VP resigned, than when Nixon resigned Ford took over. Before him was Dwight Eisenhower.

Ford was not elected either president or vice president. He was appointed as VP after Spiro Agnew resigned, then became President after Nixon resigned. He's one of the 5 men to serve as president who was never elected to the post.

Eisenhower's VP both terms was Richard Nixon.

The last time Republicans won the White House without a Nixon or a Bush on the ticket was 1928, when Herbert Hoover was elected.

Compared to democrats of today, I think both Truman and FDR WOULD be Republicans. I know JFK would.
